Produce Made Simple and the Ontario Produce Marketing Association (OPMA) were delighted to support Project Engagement’s holiday food distribution program, which helps hundreds of families in the Toronto area! We were there on behalf of the OPMA membership, to donate goodies for the food boxes as well as pack and distribute boxes on the big day!
Project Engagement is a volunteer based not-for-profit that looks to alleviate short term poverty and attempts to address the structural issues surrounding long term poverty within Toronto. The holiday food hampers share approximately one month’s worth of food and household necessities for each family, to help alleviate the financial squeeze during the busy holiday season. We love that each box is packed full of fresh fruits and vegetables and this uplifting program has been growing for 11 years!
Sweet potatoes, potatoes, carrots, apples, salad items and cabbage are all included in this yummy food drive. Find out more about how to select and store these items by clicking on the links. Also check out our delicious winter soup, with cabbage, celery, onion and apples or our gorgeous apple strata – perfect for a holiday morning celebration!
